Tokyo Easy Rider: Foreigners can now apply for becoming Taxi drivers in Japan!

Emma

There is no doubt about the fact that the Olympics games in 2020 will bring to Tokyo, and the rest of Japan, a huge change.

This change will involve foreigners too! How? New job opportunities in fields that have never been considered before.

If you live in Japan and you like cars, driving and you don’t mind talking to people, I think you really should read the rest of the article!

I am sure that most of you have never thought about a job as taxi driver in a big metropolis like Tokyo, especially if you are here in Japan since a while and you’ve already learnt the language.

However, I guess that some people just don’t feel like they are that kind of person, who is able to enjoy a fulltime, lifetime, position in an office just right in front of a computer typing numbers, writing reports. If you think you could be one of these people, kind of allergic to strict rules typical of Japanese companies above all, why don’t you try to get a job that could set you free?

Driving around Tokyo, enjoying all kinds of conversation with all kinds of people, it doesn’t sound bad, does it?

Probably some of you are thinking that a taxi driver may not benefit of the typical package that is usually offered in case of office jobs, of course the “package” depends on the company itself, but Japan is quite serious when it comes to work, employees are covered by insurance and other benefits in most of the cases. This is the case of taxi drivers too.

Also, don’t be afraid to end up stuck in an old, smelly car! Have you ever taken a taxi here in Tokyo? Well, let’s say that is like having your personal chauffeur! Last but not less important: car doors open automatically!

What is necessary to apply for this taxi driver position?

1) A fluent Japanese language or at least a fluent-on going Japanese level.
2) A drive license valid in Japan.

You don’t know how to get a Japanese drive license? Ask JapanLIFE! We will support you during the whole process!
